FAQs: About the member directory
You can search for a member on last name, first name, company, city or state as well as numerous areas of practice.
When you search on last name, first name, company or city, the search is a "begins with" search. For instance, if you type "kin" into the box labeled "Company," the directory will find matches on "Kinetik Communication Graphics," "Kinkaid Communications," "King Group," "Kinko's," etc.
Directory queries work best with minimal information. Entering the first few letters will give better results than completing all the fields.
For example: If you were looking for Sandy Kowalsky, but you don't remember how to spell her name, or you don't know that she might be listed as "Sandra", you might search on:
First name: Sand
Last name: Kow
The query results will bring you a list of no more than 200 names. If one of these names is the one you were looking for, you can click on the name to display a complete member profile.
If you were unable to retrieve the right member's record, click on your browser's "back" button to refine your search.
As of early 2002, all members have not completed their profiles, so searching on areas of practice in combination with any other criteria may result in no matches.
Who is included in the directory?
This directory includes current AIGA professional, associate and student members. Only professional and associate members are able to indicate their areas of practice, so student members will not be displayed as a result of a search including those criteria.
Why isn't so-and-so in the directory?
There are four reasons why someone would be missing from the directory.
- The search needs to be refined. Refine your search by entering less information. Try a new search with just the first few letters of the member's last name. The directory query works best with minimal information.
- The person is not a current AIGA member. Only members who have paid their current year's dues are included. To reinstate your membership, contact AIGA.
- The person is a new member and his or her membership has not been processed. We add new members to the directory as quickly as possible. Once we receive your application, it typically takes up to a week for new members to appear in the directory.
- The member has asked not to be listed. Some members prefer not to be listed in the directory.
What does the AIGA logo next to some names mean?
The AIGA logo indicates that a member has agreed to observe the AIGA Standards of Professional Practice (members indicate their agreement by updating their profile).
How can I update my listing in the directory?
You can update your listing under My profile here on the AIGA website.
I'm concerned that the directory will be downloaded for commercial purposes. The purpose of this directory is to provide members and others with an immediate way to access up-to-date contact information for our members. As a protection, we have designed the directory to display no more than 200 members at a time.
Please report any abuse of directory information to AIGA executive director Richard Grefe.
